BIG /
SMALL TEETH
WORK INDIA
The terms "big" and "small" are relative and are used as relative to
the size of facial features. If the teeth and facial structures are
evenly small, nothing will appear wrong with the smile. The facial
appearance is proportionate and aesthetic. The same is true for big
teeth and proportionally big facial structures.
However, teeth among each other may have structural remarkable
differences or the relation of tooth size and jaw size may be
disproportionate. Those discrepancies are very obvious and are
associated with diastemas, narrow lips, prominent upper and/or
lower lip, mouth breathing, deep bites. The mouth becomes focus of
attention in a negative sense. Aesthetic Dentistry can resolve many of
these problems and make patients more confident about themselves.

patients more confident about themselves.
The term "diastema" is used to describe open spaces between the upper
incisors (front teeth). Diastemas are created by a disproportionate
sizes of teeth and jaw. Occasionally, the pulling action of a labial
frenulum that inserts too closely to the upper central incisors can
push the teeth apart creating a "central diastema".
Diastemas are often closed by orthodontic alignment of the teeth into
contact. However, often simply small and unattractive teeth go hand in
hand with open spaces. The smile looks "timid". The treatment of
choice would be to increase the size of the teeth by placing
veneers on top of them closing the diastemas at the same time. The
ensuing smile is more vivid and healthy. The teeth appear whiter and
more appealing. This is the task of cosmetic dentistry.
